Board Meetings

All FOPB members are welcome to attend the meetings of the board of directors. Meetings are tentatively scheduled for the third Wednesday of each month, at 7 PM at the Middleton EMS Station. Time and place are subject to change.

Committee Memberships


  • Executive Committee is chaired by Bruce Froehlke. Other members are Dale Klubertanz, Maureen Schwarz, and Deb Weitzel. The executive committee serves as the central planning committee and has full board authority in the absence of or between board meetings.

  • Governance Committee is chaired by Lyman Wible. Other members are John Daly, Dale Klubertanz, and Dawn Meyer. Responsible for board governance, including bylaws, policies and procedures, and nomination of new board members and officers. Also responsible for board assessment and training, including new board members.

  • Finance Committee is chaired by Maureen Schwarz (Treasurer). Other members are Tom Crozier and Hagen Hedfield. The finance committee directs the fiscal and budgetary affairs of the organization, including preparing the annual budget and monitoring performance against budget.

  • Education Committee is chaired by Deb Weitzel. Other members are Jane Cummings-Carlson, John Daly, Colleen Feist, Trel Gimber, Dreux Watermolen, and Stephanie Williams. This committee manages Kids for the Earth educational programs and activities (including elementary school field trips), high school service learning opportunities, and adult Conservancy Days. Operated with the assistance of Colleen Robinson-Klug, our part-time education coordinator.

  • Restoration and Management Committee is chaired by Susan Gruber. Other members are Tom Bernthal, Iffat Bhuiyan, Ismat Bhuiyan, Jane Cummings-Carlson (Board Liaison), Guerdon Coombs, Emil Haney, Tom Klein, Joleen Stinson, and Susan Vennard. In general, anything that directly impacts the Conservancy would be in the purview of this Committee, including restoration, construction projects, invasives removal, controlled burns, plantings, signage, recruitment of volunteers, etc. For more information about the committee, call or email Susan Gruber 608-836-3848.

  • Watershed Committee is chaired by Stefanie Brouwer. Other members include Herb Garn, Emil Haney, and Lyman Wible (advisor). The Watershed Committee focuses on all the issues impacting the Pheasant Branch Watershed. The committee works to understand and support the health of the watershed in cooperation with public and private partners and stakeholders.

  • Development and Marketing Committee is chaired by Dawn Meyer. Other members are Brian Butler, Tom Crozier, Bruce Froehlke, and Susan Vennard. Development responsibilities include coordinating the annual membership campaign and other fundraising programs, as well as long-term fundraising strategies. As part of this effort, the committee is leading the strategic planning efforts. Marketing efforts include the website, newsletter, press releases, calendar, public relations, and events.
