Ho-Chunk Culture in PBC

Pheasant Branch Conservancy is full of amazing stories! One is that of a community rallying to protect open space in the face of growing development. Another is of successful ecosystem restoration, bringing back prairies, sedge meadows, and oak savannas along with the wildlife they support.

Often left out of the story are the voices of indigenous people who called this place home long before colonists arrived. These indigenous stories are not consigned to the history books either. Indigenous people have never left, and we are honored to hear their stories of Pheasant Branch Conservancy, in their own voices.

Andi Cloud, a storyteller and member of the Ho-Chunk Nation, welcomes you to the Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy Listening Trail.
