Recruiting Naturalists

education program

The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy are looking for part time naturalists to support education programs for K-12 students and senior citizens. Candidates should have a love for the outdoors and a love for getting people outside to learn about the place where they live. We train naturalists prior to education programs.

The school programs take place during April, May, September, and October. The work with adults takes place in the summer. We have lesson plans for all of our field trips and work in teams to conduct the field trips. We direct service learning projects for middle and high school students. Field trips and service learning projects take place Monday through Friday during the school day (8:15 am to 3:45 pm). The trips last for 1.5 to 2.5 hours. Naturalists take shifts or sign up for a whole day of work. The days can be 4 to 7 hours long.

This is intermittent, part time work.  Naturalists sign up for trips and projects as they fit into their schedule. Total hours per month can range from 3 to 24 hours. Naturalists can volunteer their time or ask to be paid.

Questions can be directed to the Friends’ Education Coordinator.
