Creative Non-fiction Nature Writing
Session 1- Thursday August 19th 10:30- Noon
Session 2- Thursday August 26th 10:30- Noon
This Class uncovers secrets to writing engaging, meaningful, even humorous, nonfiction by presenting the process of writing nonfiction as weaving together essential thematic strands. We will begin by using common techniques associated with extended definitions and then refine our approach based on our interests.
We will learn first of all how to differentiate creative non-fiction from other non-fiction genres so that we can formulate successful approaches to our writing, by taking a look at several examples to model. We then need to come up with our own tentative plan by deciding on which themes we will be trying to weave together for the sake of creating an informed narrative. Finally, we want to answer the question -what are necessary strategies to creating a daily or weekly practice of creative non-fiction?
These classes are funded by the Friends as part of our celebration of the 25th Anniversary!
