**UPDATE** The eagle pair did not produce eaglets in 2022. This pair of eagles is young, and a failure to produce eaglets is not uncommon for a young pair. Fingers crossed for next year!
Welcome to the Eagles’ Nest viewing platform! From here, you can see the large nest our resident eagle pair have built. Bald Eagles reuse their nest, adding to its already prodigious size each year.
Bald Eagles are protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Under these laws, nest sites must be protected from disturbance – which is why the City of Middleton closed a foot path into the wetland once this nest site was established.
Bald Eagles have long held a special place in our national identity, but their significant to indigenous people is even longer and deeper. Here are Brenna Mersicek, from Madison Audubon, and Andi Cloud, a storyteller from the Ho-Chunk nation, to tell you more about eagles.
