What can you do right now to improve water quality in Lake Mendota and Pheasant Branch Creek? If you live in an area with lots of terrace trees, make a commitment to remove street leaves before the rain. It’s an easy, yet very effective action that those living in the urban environment can take to reduce the amount of phosphorus that washes into our waters each fall.
The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy are asking you to join the effort and encourage neighbors to take action by posting a Leaf-free Streets sign in your yard. The signs are traditional 18” x 24” yard signs customized for the Pheasant Branch Watershed. See example below. Please respond by Wednesday, September 23 with your name and address if you wish to participate. The Friends will deliver the sign to your home in early October.
