Dear Friends,
We hope you are well and have enjoyed these crisp autumn and early winter days in the Conservancy.
A couple of items for your attention:
Stormwater Utility Referendum Approved
We are pleased to report that Middleton voters approved the stormwater utility referendum on November 5 by a 2:1 margin. The final vote was 9,162 in favor and 4,581 opposed.
The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy strongly encouraged support for the referendum to:
- Increase the ecological value of Pheasant Branch Conservancy and improve water quality in the watershed;
- Help address flooding issues throughout the city; and
- Provide a consistent stormwater management funding source that is fair to residential taxpayers.
We want to acknowledge the dedication and work of our Watershed Committee, co-chaired by Ken Wiesner and Herb Garn, who led our advocacy efforts on the importance of funding stormwater management in the watershed and supporting the stormwater utility.
