Welcome to the Eagles’ Nest viewing platform. In June 2025, a storm downed the tree and nest utilized by our resident eagle pair. The juvenile had already fledged and the breeding pair have constructed a new nest, visible from the platform, to the north. Bald Eagles are protected under the Bald and Golden Eagle Protection Act and the Migratory Bird Treaty Act. Under these laws, nest sites must be protected from disturbance. Bald Eagles have long held a special place in our national identity, but their significant to indigenous people is even longer and deeper. Here are Brenna Mersicek, from Madison Audubon, and Andi Cloud, a storyteller from the Ho-Chunk nation, to tell you more about eagles.
