Keep your eyes peeled for abundant bird species at Pheasant Branch Conservancy, one of the top birdwatching spots in southern Wisconsin.
More than 200 species of birds have been spotted at Pheasant Branch Conservancy, from eagles and egrets to warblers and woodpeckers. Some of these species live in Pheasant Branch Conservancy year-round (ducks, geese, hawks, owls and more), while other rarely sighted birds like vireos and certain warblers simply pass through on their migratory routes.
Birdwatching is a popular activity year-round in the Conservancy, which is regarded as a top spot for birdwatching in southern Wisconsin.
A few tips on birdwatching etiquette:
- Observe and photograph birds without disturbing them or their habitats
- Avoid chasing or repeatedly “flushing” birds
- Keep an appropriate distance from nests
- Do not handle birds, eggs, or nests
- Stay on existing trails and pathways at the Conservancy
- Be considerate of others visiting the Conservancy
