Effigy Mounds

Located on Pheasant Branch Hill, the effigy mound group at the Conservancy consists of four conical mounds and one linear mound.
Wisconsin once had 15,000 to 20,000 effigy mounds. Only 4,000 mounds remain today. In the Madison area, 80% of 1,500 have been destroyed, including here in Pheasant Branch Conservancy. The mound group on Pheasant Branch Hill consists of four conical mounds and one linear mound.
