About the Friends

The Friends of Pheasant Branch Conservancy (FOPBC) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to the protection, restoration and promotion of Pheasant Branch Conservancy in the City of Middleton in Dane County in southern Wisconsin. Since our founding in 1995, we have served as the voice of the Conservancy, ensuring that this vital ecological resource remains protected from development and is restored to its highest natural potential.

As a volunteer-driven organization, we serve as the link between the community and the three public entities that own and manage the Conservancy: the City of Middleton, Dane County, and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. While the Friends do not own any land in the Conservancy, our strength lies in a deep, collaborative partnership where we can fill critical gaps that public agencies often cannot address alone. We provide the agility and private funding necessary to move projects forward, whether that means mobilizing thousands of hours of skilled volunteer labor, providing rapid-response funding for restoration, or advocating for complex, multi-million-dollar land acquisitions.
