About Me
Gary Sater and his wife, Lois Sater, have lived in Middleton for over 50 years. With family roots in the Wisconsin farming community, he was mostly raised in Minneapolis/St. Paul. Undergraduate work at Gustavus Adolphus College led to graduate studies at UW-Madison in School Psychology and Clinical Psychology. Initially working as a School Psychologist for Middleton-Cross Plains Area Schools, he eventually finished his doctorate at UW-Madison and became a Licensed Psychologist.
During his more than 30 years of practice in Madison he specialized in clinical, forensic, and sport psychology. These years included being a founding partner in Mental Health Solutions, SC and Solutions for Performance, LLC, with whom he contracted with UW-Madison Athletics as a Nationally Certified Sport Psychologist in meeting the needs of Badger athletes with Badger Sports Medicine.
Upon retirement, his volunteering with the Friends’ Restoration & Management Committee led to completion of his Master Naturalist course, co-chairing the committee, and now serving on the Board. He has been a lifelong photographer and provides the Friends with still images and videos, including drone images for restoration purposes. His lifelong love of and respect for nature has come to fruition in his involvement with the Friends.
