Did you know that the Pheasant Branch Springs discharge an average of 1,760 gallons per minute? In just one day, the water from these springs could fill 70 backyard pools or supply 30 households with water for an entire year. Precipitation that enters the groundwater in the recharge area may eventually make its way out through the springs. Land use changes and development have casued other springs in the area to diminish or go dry (such as Madison’s Spring Harbor springs) and the Pheasant Branch Springs face the same threats.
